Hopetown

The Bahamas is a large archipelago of 800 islands strewn across shallow blue waters to the southeast of Florida.  Hopetown was settled by loyalist to the British Crown over 200 years ago around the time of American Independence!  You can meet decendants as  you stroll down Queens Highway.  You might conclude they hail from the US or England until they start to speak with a unique Abaco patois.

Hopetown and Elbow Cay have long white sand beaches, abundant coral reefs nearshore, 100 year old clapboard Bahamian cottages along narrow winding walkways, abundant water vistas and more.  It is a casual, idylic back place of natural beauty that moves at a different pace.  It is a great place for a visit and even a wedding!
